Indomie or Ibumie? Which one is the real deal

Most of us here for sure love to eat instant noodles as it easy to cook and simple. As we know in Malaysia, there is an instant noodle which we known since kids as Indomie Mi Goreng. I think most aware that the name of Indomie had changed to Ibumie. And the packaging is the same with the old Indomie packaging with the changes on the logo and the words “Always” had been added.

Ibumie Mi Goreng packaging the same colour with the old Indomie (Taken from Internet after googling)
Is it Ibumie bought over Indomie? Not sure about that as well but all we know if we were walking around the aisle looking on the instant noodles shelves display at shopping mall, if we see the brown colour packaging we will think it Indomie Mi Goreng.
I stumbled on a new packaging of Indomie selling behind my house. The packaging is totally different from the "Old Indomie Mi Goreng” which is now currently been used by Ibumie. They are 2 type been sold which are “Mi Goreng Perisa Asli” and “Mi Goreng Perisa Spesial”.

Ibumie Always Mi Goreng Curry Capitan Flavour
For the taste wise of between “Ibumie Always Mi Goreng Asli” and “Indomie Mi Goreng Perisa Asli”, can taste the different and texture on the noodles when serve. On the packaging, the “Ibumie” is one of the product made in Malaysia and been distributed by company called “Biz-Allianz International (M) Sdn Bhd". For Indomie is a product made in Indonesia and been imported and distribute by UDI Marketing Sdn Bhd.
Google the internet and found out “Biz –Allianz International “sites stating that one of the product which available is “Indomie”. Not sure either the website had been updated or they are still distribute Indomie in Malaysia.
So, i’m not sure which one is original mi goreng which i had eaten since my childhood time. For me, the packaging really mislead the consumer. Which one of them is the real deal either “Ibumie” or “Indomie” ? You decide and as for me, as long the noodle is cook, i will eat.

Last time, I think Indomie had a factory in Malaysia...but even then, it seemed that the mee goreng made in Indonesia was nicer...even though both from the same company. I think they broke off the connection now, so changed the name to Ibumie. I did not notice also at first.
My daughter eats Indomie all the time in NZ, the real thing from Indonesia and she says it is much nicer. Malaysia macam mana boleh!!!
i think both taste omos the same :)
bengbeng, can taste the different on the noodles textures. It much more better from Indomie rather than Ibumie
Taiwan health authorities had just recently issued a notice regarding Indomie stating that the preservatives used(normally only used in certain cosmetics) cause liver damage and etc. You can find the video in youtube:)
wow... saw the video that day. Can't really understand chinese but the way they cook the mee is by doing it soup rather than dry one. Thanks for the info
Thanks for the research. So must look for the one that has UDI name right?
found in jakim halal directory, ibumie & indomie is manufactured in bdr baru bangi by spice & seasoning speciality sdn bhd, and another one is biz-allianz based in Kelana jaya (I bet the kelana jaya office is only distributor). If you browse u can find some legal IP issues with both names. That could be the reason on name changes.
ermm... thanks for the info eliza. But quite weird y same product should have 2 names and it confusing the consumers. My friend in Taiwan told me that all Indomie instant noodles was taken out from the shelves in all shops. And Ibumie still at the shelves.
Indomie is by Indofood in Indoneisa.
Ibumie is from Malaysia.
Ibumie is the fake one. Ibumie tried to copy Indomie but they taste like shit.
thanks naomi. but recent post in Taiwan saying Indomie not good to consume, but in Malaysia the noodle are ok and does not contains any dangerous ingredient to be consume.
Old post. But just thought info should be shared anyways.
Ibumie is a Malaysian company. They bought the recipe from Indomie for millions and signed a contract to stop Indomie from selling in Malaysia for a period of time.
Combined with advertisements, that successfully made LOTS of people think that Indomie changed to Ibumie. Now that the contract is over, you can see Indomie selling here again.
I remember Indomie was the original now it became Ibumie Asli Original.
Both of them taste nice to me but i prefer indomee more. My house is having kitchen renovation so I have been eating a lot of instant noodle lately.
Even change name but people still ordering as indomie at stall.🤣
Prefer ibumie coz the light salty taste
I’d prefer Ibumie esp The Penang white curry mee than Indo Mee anytime ..Indo mee has too much msg and kess flavour..
The original recipe was Ibumie, but the name was Indomie back then. Over some dispute, Indomie then changed it's name to Ibumie. How do i know? Because ive been eating the noodle since before 1994. Yeah, u read that correctly. Before 1994. There were Indomie and Myojo in 1994. I consumed both noodles. That's how i know about them. Then i introduced the noodle (Indomie) to my school friends when i moved to JB from Kedah in 1994. Thats how i know the year. Btw, now i'm over 40s.
