McQueen & Mater at Sunway Concourse

Vroomm… vroom… vrooommmm…. And off they go!!! Sunway was on Speedy Holiday theme when they attract the shopping malls visitor with the real size replica of Lightning McQueen and Tater from the upcoming animation movie Cars 2.

Since it was still a school holiday, the place was packed with children taking opportunity to take photo with their favourite characters. It seems like Disney in Malaysia really make a big impact this year with Pirates of Caribbean on Stranger Tides in Midvalley and now Cars 2 at Sunway Pyramid. Is there going to be Disneyland Malaysia? Ermmm…. Just a guess but it would be a great attraction to Malaysian since Singapore had there Universal Studios.

Back to the deco at Sunway, there are few shop stalls open near the concourse area where you can buy merchandise of the movie such as clothes for kids. I might be planning to buy one for my niece and nephew for early Christmas shopping. Hihihihihi… So if you are around in KL till 12 June 2011, do come to Sunway Pyramid and catch the glimpse of the real size replica of McQueen and Tater.

The guest who came for this event was mostly Mitsubishi vehicle owners in Klang Valley and all by invitation only. As my friend did filled up the forms and submit to Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia for process, he manage to get a spot to attend this event. Once you get the invitation, he or she may invite a guest to come and help to introduce Mitsubishi vehicles and it capabilities. Mitsubishi car is one of highly recommended car for motorsport enthusiast especially the Lancer. If you like Gran Turismo and you watch Jackie Chan old movie title called “Thunderbolt”, you know why people love Mitsubishi cars.

The events starts at 9:00 a.m and was divided to two groups. Groups A is for morning session and group B is at the afternoon session. There were a lot of activities was held such as test drive the new cars, safety driving course, foosball, pool, arcade and the best thing is the “Taxi Ride on Lancer Evo X” with 2 times Dakar Rally Champion driver, Mr  Hiroshi Masuoka.

To get the taxi ride experience, there will be a lucky draw and only Mitsubishi owner can join the competition. Sighs... i’m just a guest and not entitled to be in a car with a respectful rally driver.
Didn’t join the safety course as well as it only open for Mitsubishi owners only and guest are not allowed to participate. Sighs...
You must be wondering how come they know you are a guest and an owner, it is from the wristband sticker they gave you during the registration. The wristband with white color is for guest and red color for Mitsubishi vehicles owner.

Wristband for guest.

Although I’m just a guest, but i was allowed to stroll the exhibition rooms and participate with the games. Also free flow of food and drinks. Hihihihihi I was looking for RalliArt umbrella but not for sale at the RalliArt corner shop. My wife love big GT umbrella which i had in my car from Bridgestone.

Seeing the Taxi Ride Experience really envy me and the same time hearing the way Mr. Hiroshi drive the car really impress me a lot. Me and my friend were hoping we get the lucky draw but we were not been selected. Although i didn’t managed to get a ride with him, we managed to take photo with him together with Evo X. Hihihihi....

Me and my friend managed to test drive the Lancer Sportback 2.4 as we stumble with my friend service advisor from Mitsubishi . There were few people testing the car as mostly are testing the other modes which is the ASX. I was amazed with the Lancer as this is my first time i drove a original Mitsubishi  lancer not the wannabe waja lancer, wira lancer and satria lancer. The response and the auto transmission and the shift gear on the handle really nice.
We returned home shortly after the test drive as my friend family from Malacca arrive in KL so he need to pick them up. It was a nice events and hopefully I can drive my own Lancer GT.

Cooking Oil (Palm Oil Based) as Engine Lubricant Oil?

Increasing of price of oils nowadays is keeping on pinching our wallet. This had taken tolls that some people take some drastic measure on combating this issue such as introduction of Bio-fuels and hybrids cars. I stumble on a blog proclaiming that a car engine can use cooking oil extracted from palm oil tree. I was shocked as I read the article. Cooking oil extracted from palm tree for replacement for normal mineral oil for engine. This is ridiculous for me. It some sort u frying a chicken in your engines.

Oil palm industries is like a gold mine in world market.

But believe it or not, some people is using it in our Malaysian soils until today. Few forums had debate on this but no one can assure that either the myths is true or not. If this is true, for sure the oil company will not sell the engine lubricant oil to the market but instead those consolidated companies which goes into palm oil plantation would be richer.

Photo taken from the internet showing a person pouring cooking oil into the engine as lubricant.

This taken from an article taken from the internet:

Are you dare enough to put cooking oil in your car as engine lubricant? Malaysia Boleh Land!!!

Do you believe that the normally used cooking oil(palm oil based) can be used as lubricant oil for your car? As astounding as it sounds, this is what had been practiced by some residents in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.
Golf School Marketing Manager, Nik Safian said that he had been using the cooking oil or his Kancil (Malaysia’s local car –Daihatsu based) which he bought for only RM 2.50 (about USD 0.76).”My Kancil use 3 liters of lubricant oil. So I just put about 2 and a half packets of cooking oil to equal that amount. I used to spend about RM130 (about USD 39) for lubricant oil change. Now I only pay for the service charge.”
According to him by using the cooking oil, his engine temperature is low and the meter does not exceed more than one notch. When he actually bring his car to the workshop for service, the mechanic was very surprised by the fact that he had used the cooking oil as engine oil but he admitted that the cooking oil works just fine and can be used as an alternative to engine oil.
Ex Graduate from Arkansas University US, Hisham Abdullah,43, also used the cooking oil for engine oil for his Proton Iswara(another Malaysia’s local car). He said he had been using it for the past 1 year and his car engine works just fine.”Cooking Oil (Palm based) is a type of synthetic oil but nobody ever use them for car lubricant for the simple fact that they do not know about it,” he said again.
Car Mechanic, Mohd Tajuddin Ali reveals that he had been using this cooking oil for engine oil since he met with an oil expert in US and was told this secret. “Only palm oil based cooking oil can be used for engine oil. Do not use corn, vegetable or beans based oil for engine oil due to its nature to freeze on low temperatures.
He said that this is definitely a relief to him due to costly engine oil in the market (4 liters of semi-synthetic oil could reach to RM 140(about USD 42) and fully synthetic oil could reach to RM 200 (about USD 60)).
However he advise people to change the car hose(gasket) to a better one before trying to use the cooking oil for engine oil.

I also heard some rumours from my friend, due to higher cost some workshop replace the genuine engine oil with cooking oil or recycle engine oil. Touch wood, hope my car in good condition as I sent to authorized Perodua service centre as most of the stuff they use are genuine from Perodua/Daihatsu.
I’m a bit sceptical with these myths as until now nobody can prove that cooking oil can be used except for some people. Here i attached few link of forums for you to read as reference.

For me, although want to be stingy, the cost of maintenance of car is much higher if you need to overhaul the engine after you used cooking oil as engine lubricant. So the next time you go service your car, be careful and ensure that your engine lubricant is not a recycle engine oil or an engine oil mix with cooking oil or pure cooking oil is put inside your car engine blocks.

Super Automix 2010 @ Bukit Jalil

It had been awhile my photo stuck in my hard disk and yet to be posted in my blogs. Where is my passion in blogging gone? Might be cause of my tonnes of works need to settle. Although working from home now, i'm still quite busy with my work.

In the beginning of the month of July 2010, there was an event at Bukit Jalil which is an annual auto show called Super Automix where all pimp ride either low riders, heavy ICE (In Car Entertainment) and fancy moder. Since i just bought new toys for my camera which is flash, so i went there with my friend to catch some photo.

The event was organize from 2nd till 4th of July 2010. We reached there at 12:00 p.m and it was drizzling. For a photographer, drizzling is a big no no as it might cause the lens expose to moist. So, i didn't take any shots when it was drizzling. The ticket cost RM18 per person. We took shelter in one of the booths where UR Racing team promote their product.

When the rains finally stops, we starts to take some photo. Beside car show, there were drifting demo was conduct to the spectators. Please don't do it on public road as it not that easy to maneuver such drifting skills. It may look easy,  but it requires guts and high adrenalin rush.

So here are the pic of the event i took. Hope you guys enjoy it.
