Earth Hour is a moment where we will most iconic buildings and landmarks from Europe to Asia to the America will stand in darkness for 60 minutes. This annual event is organized by WWF with almost 5 millions supporters and a global network in over 100 countries. WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the Earth's natural environment and build a future where people live in harmony with nature.
Earth Hour 2010 took place on Saturday 27 March at 8.30pm (local time) and is a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community throughout the world. It is a call to stand up, to take responsibility, to get involved and lead the way towards a sustainable future. People across the world from all walks of life will turn off their lights and join together in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common – our planet.
We here in Malaysia, the place where the iconic buildings the Petronas Twin Towers stand will be participate for the 2nd times this year since this project been launch in 2007 starting in Australia. As last year, me and my wife only able to view the moments whereby the iconic building shut of it exterior lights from the highway. This year 2010, we decided to capture the moments at KLCC Park.
As i was new in photography using DSLR, i brought along my tripod as it was been advisable by other photograph if we are taking  photo at night scene. There were a crowd of people in the park and some even have picnic with family and friend to view this event. As suspected, they were a lot photographer with their tripod trying to capture the moment.  When the clock struck 8:30p.m, the KLCC shut down it display lights part by part and it ended for 5 8 seconds for complete darkness. Surround buildings also shut down their display light to show their support on this event. I managed to captured the moments from it shutting down off the lights and turn on the lights at 9:30p.m.

At 8:29p.m, both tower still lighted up.

At 8:30p.m, the show begins where both tower shut down the tip light gradually.

First tower completely shut off the lights.

The spotlight at the tower bridge been shut off.

Complete darkness in 8 seconds.

Using special Picture style, managed to capture the image of the Twin Tower in darkness

The surrounding building around the KLCC Twin Tower also support this campaign.

KLCC view

This following pics is quite interesting as i have remove my UV filter lens before earth hour to remove glaring results but yet it still a mystery for me when i view the photo on my notebook.
This photo taken at 8:25p.m preparing for the moment KLCC will be lighted up.

I snap few trial shot, and i get this result. You can see some sort like a green batman look alike beacon like appear next to the 2nd tower.

The light still appear but in different shape.

The light getting fade.

Slightly fading as KLCC begins to lighted up.

KLCC lighted the bridge but the green light still there but fading

Hope next year, more people will support this project.
