St. John's Fort
If going down to Malacca, all in the mind are A’famosa fort. There is another fort which are not far from A’Famosa which is St, John’s Fort. St. John’s Fort is a military installation situated on top of St. John’s Hill in Bandar Hilir, south of Melaka. It was formerly a Portuguese chapel in dedication to St. John the Baptist. Later it was made into a Dutch military installation in the late 18th century.

Few canon on the fort.

Ready to aim.
A flower grows on the ruins.
Most interestingly, the guns in the fort are faced inland instead of the sea which says that during that time the Dutch were threatened more from the mainland than the sea. Come to historical side like Malacca reminds me how strong were people in the olden days where they built a fort by hand without using heavy machinery like us today. Even seing the brass canon size being place on the fort make you wonder how was Malacca in the golden era of it establishment as one of the important ports in Asia. On the way up the staircase, the Malacca Goverment erect a reminder how St. John's Fort was used in the older time as a reminder for the young generation.
A sign shown how the fort was used to be a chapel for catholics in Malacca.
A tale how Bugis and Acheh people try to invade Malacca.
How the olden days build the fort.
The best thing about this area, a lot of saga trees. First time i see the tree itself grow so subur here.
Saga trees which grows well surround the fort which resembles like petai trees.
