Mini Cupcakes @ Jalan Kerja Ayer Lama Ampang

Fill me up buttercup is the only songs reminds me of a cupcakes. It was few months ago that i went to check it out some eateries in Ampang. We were in a malay stalls in ampang near to ISKL, a man carrying a full basket of mini cupcakes approach us selling his mini cupcakes. On the first time he came to us, we were busy eating and we are not interested with it.  He walked away and approach other patrons in few shops. After walloping all the food that we ordered, suddenly my wife suggest that we should give a try on the mini cupcakes that the man trying to sells. As he was approaching his potential customer table by table, he was yet to be seen in the vicinity of the shop which we had our dinner. So we decided to wait and ordered our drinks while we waiting for him to come back.
30 minutes later on, he been spotted and i raise my hand to called him. So he came to our table with his few nicely package mini cupcakes. He was a humble person and according to him he is helping his wife selling those mini cupcakes. He a very soft spoken person and can talked in English very well.
So there were a lot of cupcakes designs and been randomly packed in transparent packaging with the cupcakes labels. It was interesting that starting from a hobby can become a 2nd choice to generate income. As for me, i was amaze with this man although he was working as white collars from 9am till 5pm, he helped his wife at night to promote his wife products. Sometimes, life is not that so easy for low and moderate income earners in the city as much as our city grows, the more the living costs are.

Back to the mini cupcakes, my wife took 2 packs of mini cupcakes with different design each. Not sure what type of cupcakes but when he explain to use, one is using butter and the other I’m not sure what was it either planta or margarine.  I’m not into baking cakes so sorry on the terms i used. Hahahaha...
Took some few photo of it and hope you guys enjoy. for those who are interested with the cupcakes above, you may go to the owner websites which available at http://www.myspace.com/monaschoice or come to Ampang area and wait for the seller comes to you. It's an excellent idea for door gifts or finger foods during special occasion.

The Day of Love - Valentine Day

This year 2010, the year of the tiger collide with St. Valentine day. It was auspicious day and year for the chinese to get married  which usually every year on 14th Feb is a favourite date to get married. Even some couples tend to celebrate valentine day belated and celebrates it on other dates.
This year was quite special for me as i tend to suprise my wife with some valentine gifts. She knows that i’m not that romantic as before and i was labelled as a romantic mood killler by my wife. I tend to make funny joke and make humour out of it which my wife always told me that she learn not to be romantic from me.
But deep inside me, i’m kinda a person who hide his affection in the other way round. The dinner had been planned and booked by my wife at Uncle Chili’s Hilton PJ for a romantic candle light dinner for two with western cuisines.
On the 14th February morning itself, after sending my wife to work ( Yes indeed, my  wife do work on PH and i have to wake up as well to send her to work. It one of my task as a hubby.)  I go out and search for flower shops and it was my luck, there was a chinese flourist shop open and i straight stop my car in front of his shop and make the order for a bouquet of a dozen white roses which i will collect at 3:00p.m. As usual, the price for flowers and gift on V-day was quite expensive but for this shop it quite reasonable. Once i had paid for the flower, i wish the tauke happy chinese new year and he was thankful that i visit his shop on 1st day of chinese new year and  he told me that i bring him good luck as the first customer of his shop on the first lunar day in chinese calendar. Then i went home and later went to church in Shah Alam with my cousin as it was on the way sending him home. Once finished the mass, i sent my cousin back to his apartment and in my mind, i should go to my next destination which is Swatch and Hallmark in KLCC.
Once i reach KLCC, my 1st target was to get my wife a SWATCH as it was in her wish list. Each time we went to KLCC, she always stop by at the Swatch outlet to see the watch. I’m not a person who wearing a watch like her. As i’m a straight buyer, i just choose the latest and the nicest watch. There were two choices that i think nice but i take the other unit as the color is unique some sort like gun metals color and it was the latest edition of Swatch for 2010.
So without further ar due, I paid for the watch and went to Hallmark to purchase cards and wrap the swatch that i bought. Once completed and paid, i straight away went home and it only took me 45 minutes in KLCC.
As i reached home, i wrote some words on the cards to express my feeling and also print a photo of both of us during our wedding day. Although it was simple but it was meaningful for me to her. Then it was 3:30pm, i need to pick up the flower from the florist. On my way to the florist, my wife called to pick her up from her workplace. So i made a pit stop at the florist to collect the bouquet before pick up my wife. As i was in the rush and don’t want my wife to know about the flower, so i ask the florist helper to put in my car booth and she not willing to do so as the weather was hot but i told her do not mind as i had air conditioned the whole car with cold air even the booth are cold. So she put it in my bonnet and from there i sped off to pick up my wife.
When she enter the car, she keep on asking where is her flower till we reach at our apartment car park. She was expecting the flower was hid under her seat like what usually i did and i told her it is not there. I told her i didn’t bought any and she keep on sensing that i bought something for her. After few round of persuading, i asked her to open the rear booth as her flower was there. She was so happy and she straight away open her door and runs to the rear bonnet. As myvi we can open the back seat easily, before she can open the rear booth, i hid the bouquet behind the passenger seat. She look not so happy once she saw no flower in behind booth. But i show the bouquet of roses and she ran inside the car again. I gave it to her and she was happy with it.

My plan was to send the flower to Hilton PJ for dinner surprise but my wife could sense earlier. So now left 2 more surprise. We both rested at home and at 6:30p.m we went off to Hilton PJ for our dinner. I brought my new DSLR bags which i hid the gifts.

The lights at the lobby look like mushrooms.

Once our dinner start, i gave her the cards and she was happy with the words i wrote and the picture of both of us during our wedding. So we chit chat and seeing other couples who went for the dinner. I’m notice that i’m the only one who bring SLR to the dinner. I snap few shot of the food and the atmospheres. Once finished our main course, the waiter send our appetizers, i took out the last gift from me.

I gave her the last gift for that day.

She was happy with the SWATCH.

She was eager to open it up and once open, she was speechless and can’t believe i bought for her a SWATCH for her valentine. It was her most wanted things in her wish list.
We both enjoyed the nite and i hope that she will remain happy till the rest our lives living together as a husband and wife.
As all couples who went for the dinner entitled for complimentary photo session, we took our photo whereby the picture will be post for public voting. You may vote for us if you wanted to at www.zestpj.com. But the photo i had not scan yet but below are our photo taken using my DSLR.

Ushering The Year of The Tiger 2010

Simple and modest CNY 2010 dinner.

Last Saturday on the 13th February 2010, it was Chinese New Year Eve. As my wife is half chinese from her mum side, she tend to be more in chinese cultured. As this year, her aunties and uncles which usually held CNY eve dinner gathering was away for vacation, we decided to seek for restaurant for the dinner which we will invite my cousin and his brother.
But since the restaurant are mostly fully booked and expensive during the CNY eve, so out a sudden we planned to cook by ourselves. We went out to Tesco Cheras Tmn Midah to buys few stuff for cooking. The traffic was smooth all the way as most KL dwellers went back to kampungs to celebrate CNY with the family or go for vacation.
Arriving at Tesco, saw few chinese family doing last minute shopping such as decoration, vege, soft drinks and snacks for CNY. Some of the chinese family just treats CNY just a normal holiday by bringing family to the small and get closer with the family member. Maybe for them they had booked the dinner and have no worries about cooking for the gathering.
So we purchase most of the stuffs as well from Tesco such as marinated honey pork, marinated black pepper lamb chop, 6 cans of Pepsi, 6 cans of Coke, Yee Sang and others. When we reached home, so i prepared the dishes while my wife cleaning the house. Among the dishes that i cooked was 3 layered pork in soy sauce with dried chilies, grilled honey pork, grilled black pepper lamb chop, fried water spinach, corn kernel with chicken and chicken soup with corns.

Yee Sang bought from Tesco

Fried Kang Kong

Fried corn kernel with chicken slice.

It was a simple and modest dinner but we do have fun especially the yee sang part. My wife friend advise that to put 2 ang pow long packet on the yee sang plate for good luck and properity. Hope this correct as this is the first time i prepared for CNY eve dinner. Usually back home in Sarawak, i have few chinese relatives and family members which usually they prepared and i’m only go there for makan. Hope this year of the tiger do bring good luck and properity to us. Happy Chinese New Year 2010.
Ooppss... no mercun this year but KL firework and firecrakers are not so good compare to Sibu on how the firework displays like you are in World War 4. hahahahahahha

Cease Operation of KL Office

It had been a while i haven’t posted anything into my blogs. I’m guess i was to hooked up with facebook and i have no idea what to write on my blogs. There’s a lot of picture i took during my absent of blogging and everyday i keep on remind myself to upload it and share with my blog follower. But, in the end, i guess i dissapoints you guys and it should be me to be blame.
During the last few months, it was a hectic for me such as preparing for christmas and last month January was shifting out things from the KL office to be shipped out back to Sibu HQ and selling off furniture to ex-boss friends.

Four KL crazy staff.

Posing in front of the units

KLCC view from the office balcony.

As most of my colleagues resign from KL office, Teo (November 2009), Wee and Fida (Mid January), i was left alone with my boss and all the arrangement for moving and handling of existing customer in West Malaysia were put on my shoulder to handle.
The arrangement such as terminating the courier service, telephone line and internet to the office was all done by me including liasing with the building management on the arrangement of shifting out thing from the office which need me to fill up few documents and get letter of consent from the owner which is in Singapore. Without the letter, most stuff can’t get out from the office.
Only me and my ex-boss were in the office with the lousy internet with router or modem problem, i rather using my notebook with free wifi to do my work. It quite sad to see the office which i had been working for few years will be close down. What can i do, it’s was top management decision to pull out the plug to shut down KL office operation.

Dismantling the cubicles tables in progress.

 The empty office.

When all the things were move out and dispose, it was sad to see the office is empty. When i was waiting for the agent, i was sitting on the floor with my notebook with WiFi access doing my work. As long as there is internet connection, i’m able to do my work.
It was a horrible experience for me on the handover of the office keys to the agent. I did it twice. On the first time, i did the handover with the agent as the agent told me that we can give the office keys to the agents on behalf of the singaporean landlord. So, me and the agent did some inspection and yes he was sastify with the conditions so i handover the keys to him.
Then on the way back, i receive a called from HQ that the owner from Singapore does not want the agent to take the key on his behalf. He want his friend to collect the keys from me and do the hangover. So another drama folds in. I guess communication breakdown between the owner and the agents.
So the next day, i called up Ms. Chan the agent and Mr. Lim the singaporean guys to arrange the schedule for the handover. Miss Chan told me to collect the keys from his partner Francis at 11:30a.m on 2nd February 2010. So i called up Mr. Lim and he told me he can’t make it at 11:30 but only available from 3:00p.m onwards. Then i called up Ms. Chan to reschedule at 3:00p.m and she said she not available during that time and she request for Mr. Lim number so i SMS her the number. Then i called up Mr. Lim back and told him that Ms. Chan can’t make it and he also request Ms. Chan number as well so that he can discuss with Ms. Chan how to meet.
After an hour meeting, Ms. Chan called me up and asked just to collect the key from Francis at 11:30a.m and later she will arrange to meet with Mr. Lim to collect back the key. So i called up Mr. Lim that i can meet him at 3:00p.m without the agent and he’s also ok with it.
Then i went to the office and meet up with Francis to collect the keys which i did handover the keys previously. He told me that the landlord suddenly angry with the agent as he did not know about the handover. Francis told me that Ms. Chan had contacted him but can’t get thru him and she had passed the message to his PA in Singapore office. According to Francis, the PA does not relate the message to the owner and this had cause the owner angry at the agent as when he ask from his PA, the PA just tell him that there is no message for him during his away to oversea. Due to this, he ask his singaporean friend to collect the key back and then later he will give back the keys to the agent. So i get the keys from Francis and i do some touch up on the office before handover the keys to Mr. Lim such as cleaning the aircond, taking out nails from the wall and applying filler on the holes.
At 3:00p.m, no sign of Mr. Lim coming to the office and at 3:30p.m, received a called from him and was mentioning he was stuck in jam and able to see KLCC not far from him. So, i can’t say i can’t wait but to say i will be waiting for him. It was  4:10 he called me that he was downstairs and can’t entered the building as they does not have any consent letter from the owner. So, i went down to meet them and guide them to the office. He was not alone as he was also accompanied by his friend.
So both of them are the landlord friend and the inspection took them less than 30 minutes. There were happy with the condition so i gave him the office keys. Once he receive, i asked him does the keys going back to Ms. Chan and according to him he had spoke with the landlord and as instruct by the landlord, he will pass the key to Mr. Jonnie and not to Ms. Chan as the owner hire another agent to handle his properties in Malaysia.
So, that’s all about now and glad that i had settled all the task given to close down the office.
