Road Side Nasi Lemak Stall @ Jalan Pinang KL

Looking for nice nasi lemak in city centre in early morning might not be easy. It had been 3 months plus i work from home but yet, I still go for a road side stalls near to my old office at Jalan Pinang to have my favourite nasi lemak operate by mak cik. Most of my colleagues and ex-colleague really love the nasi lemak which is nice, mouth fulfilling and the price really ridiculous for the big portion.
The stalls operates on weekday from 6:45a.m till 9:00a.m. One must be early if you want to get hold of your favourite side dishes either ayam masak merah, kerang, sotong, ikan, sardine and etc. Beside selling nasi lemak, you may opt to choose fried noodle, fried bee hoon and local kuih muih.

Variety of nasi lemak side dish.

But this Mak Cik is a nice person. Each time i come o her stall, she will ask,”Lama tak nampak dik” which translate in English,”It been a while didn’t  seeing you”. I told her that i’m no longer have an office in city centre but now working from home. She ask why i come all the way from my place to city centre, i replied her that my wife now working at the hotel nearby and miss mak cik nasi lemak.

While she wraping the nasi lemak, she usually will chat with her customer.

She also still remembered one of my colleague from Sibu which is Choo as i did introduce my sibu staff with her nasi lemak. Choo did take photo of her and her stall which later he posted about the nasi lemak on his blog. You may read his blog here regarding the nasi lemak.

If you are working in KL or living in the hotel nearby, just try this nasi lemak and you might get hook with it like me.

Chuang Yang Restaurant @ Sibu,Sarawak

This year on Easter 2010, me and my wife flew back to our hometown Sibu for few days getaway from busy hassle of city life in Kuala Lumpur. We spent our holidays with foods and foods each day when we arrive in Sibu.

The shop entrance. You may seat in open space or inside hall with aircond.

The shop been decorated with colorful lights.

There is one place that been long existence in Sibu but seems not a lot of blogger writing about their shop. So here I’m writing about the shop. The shop located near the Lanang Bridge. When you drove from the sibu town, do not take the ramp going up across the bridge but instead take the road leading you back to Sibu town. You can easily spotted the restaurant with an ample parking space and lighted with colourful lights.
It was Sunday we went there with our family after we pay a visit from cemetery from both of our side. My late date graveyard located at Sungei Merah and my wife late mum located at Salim cemetery.
When we reach there, it was packed with people as usually Sibu people have the tend to eat dinner early. We reached there at 7:15 p.m and it was hard to find parking space.Maybe it due to conjunction with Qing Ming Festivals as i saw most cars parked at the parking lot are from outside Sibu.
So we settle down in a big table near the counter and there were big menu being displayed with numbered to make us easy to making order with the waiter. As we all are not sure what to order as they were variety of food available, so we decide to have 5 common dishes that we know as most of the food written in Chinese. (Hope the owner can change the name of the food in English).

A big menu for you to choose but major setback for those who can't read chinese.

Beside selling food, it seem the shop also sell variety of fresh water fish which patrons are allowed to choose the fish for cooking. Besides that, i heard from my brother in law that they also sell exotic meats such as snake, deer, wild boar, soft shell turtle, dog meat and etc upon request and availability. As I explore the area, I saw 6 foot aquarium fills up with live frogs. It not the ordinary frog sell in town, it’s the big green frogs!!! I’m not sure why people eat only the legs but not the whole frog meat. It looks pity at the amphibian fate which end up in a wok.
Frog leg or meat anyone?

Fresh fish for patrons to choose.

I snapped few photo of the foods and the scenery of the restaurant for sharing. By the way, we end up ordered another 3 more dishes which total up complete 8 course dinner. Amazingly, the price is quite affordable and cheap for 7 pax. Our family planning to have a family reunion at this restaurant as the price is quite reasonable and the food are much nicer than the last family gathering held at Hope Happiness Restaurant near the new bus terminal.

Fried Midin with Shrimp Paste (Blachan)

Siaw Bee

Amazingly, this shop also sell the hot and cold dishes in boat plate.

Fried calamari with french fries and mayonaise topping

Fried Butter Prawn

Deep fried fish with sweet and sour sauce.

On my way back, saw this white H2 parked outside the shop with Sibu registration plate.
